Sacrococcygeal Teratoma (SCT): What Is It & How We Treat It

A sacrococcygeal teratoma is a tumor that develops before birth and grows at the base of the coccyx, or tailbone, of the unborn baby. In most cases, SCTs are small and benign (non-cancerous) tumors that rarely present complications during pregnancy. However, they can grow very large and cause problems for the unborn baby and mother.
